INEC can not Guarantee Elections will Hold March 28, says Jega

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Attahiru Jega, has told Nigerian federal lawmakers he could not guarantee the 2015 general elections will hold on rescheduled dates in March and April.

At a meeting with Senators Wednesday, Mr. Jega said he could not commit himself to the “sanctity” of March 28 and April 11 – dates for the rescheduled Nigeria’s general elections.

Election Shift:How to stop Boko Haram in six weeks (EXPOSED)

General Tajudeen Olanrewaju, a former Minister of Communications, during his service years served as commander, Corps of Artillery and General Officer Commanding, Third Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, a post once held by General Muhammadu Buhari at the beginning of the eighties.

Olanrewaju, now a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos State in this interview reviews issues emanating from the shift of the elections among other things.

What was your reaction to the shift of the elections?

If we really want a free and fair election, we must create a conducive environment for it. And I believe that the last two or three weeks for INEC have been a very, very difficult time for them not being able to meet the responsibility of ensuring that most people have access to their PVCs. And it would be unfair to the large segment of Nigerians to be denied the opportunity to exercise their rights of voting. So, that alone is a positive thing towards ensuring that there is a free, fair and transparent election. But on the other hand, the issue of security is something beyond INEC. It is beyond our own understanding because in the last few days we now have other foreign forces working together with us in ensuring that we are able to tackle this problem once and for all.

10 ways to spend less on Valentine’s Day

1. Have dinner at home – Instead of going out on dinner date you can consider having the dinner at home. This should resonate well with couples who are hardly at home due to busy work schedules or even intending couple just getting to know each other. Dinner dates at home helps you both avoid distractions associated with restaurant settings. You guys simply spend quality time at a cheaper price. You just need to make the setting very special.

2. Order dinner – If you are not the type who likes to cook or don’t know how to cook you can also consider ordering dinner outside. Loads of restaurants in Nigeria now provide such services in a very timely manner. Even though it might be slightly expensive it saves you a lot of stress, like having to drive out in traffic. You also save money on buying expensive drinks which fancy restaurants typically mark up at times like this.

3.  Go somewhere different – Val’s day mustn’t be spent in exotic restaurants or locations only. Why not visit somewhere different and traditional like the movies, beach or spa. You could also visit memorable places such as where you first met or saw each other. Going to somewhere different more often than not takes you away from locations that might make you spend more on Val’s day.

Doyin Okupe Describes Online Polls as Political Masturbation

Read the excerpt of where Doyin Okupe described Facebook and Twitter polls as political masturbation below:

"People talk on face book and twitter as if the elections will be decided here. What goes on here is nothing but political masturbation. The actual voting takes place in the real world. There are about 13m and 4.5m Nigerians on facebook and Twitter respectively. On the average because of multiple presence we can assume a number of 15m. 50% or 7.5m are not registered. Out of the remaining 7.5m another 50% will not vote. So we are looking at about a max of 3.75m voters from these platforms. The projected voters for this election is expected to be about 52/55m.
