A 30-year-old man, Chukwukezi Afonogu, who claimed to be an evangelist, has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for killing his 65-year-old father, Judge Afonogu (not a member of the judiciary) with a gun and burying his corpse.
He was said to have committed the crime at about 3pm on August 25, 2014 in Enugu-Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area of the state, Sunday Sun reports.
It was gathered that Chukwukezi had been having frequent quarrels with his father. On that fateful day, after one of their quarrels, the suspect allegedly retrieved his gun from his room, came out into the family compound and shot his father where he was seated and resting under a tree in the afternoon.
Recounting what happened, the suspect who disclosed that he was an evangelist and member of the Evergreen Believers Bible Ministry said, on the day of the incident, his late father had called him a ‘mad boy’, and a quarrel ensued.
