But why do we even shake hands? It’s not necessary. Or better still use sanitizer and wash hands regularly with soap if you must shake hands,” Don Jazzy wrote on Twitter.

Fayose Doubts PDP Ability To Win Osun

Ekiti gov-elect Fayose doubts PDP’s ability to win Osun For the forthcoming Osun governorship election scheduled for August 9th, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is relying on the momentum from the Ekiti election which held last month and in which it trounced the incumbent APC governor, Kayode Fayemi. However, the man who pulled off the victory on behalf of the party in Ekiti, Ayo Fayose, is not even convinced that his fellow party man, Iyiola Omisore, can pull off the same feat in Osun. Fayose, up till now, has not visited Osun to stump for Omisore. In fact, according to reports, Fayose has now publicly expressed doubt over Omisore’s ability to defeat Gov. Rauf Aregbesola. Speaking on a radio programme on Progress 100.5FM in Ekiti, Fayose reportedly said: “I can’t see Omisore winning the poll. I don’t think he can win but I wish him good luck.” Shortly after he was declared winner of the governorship poll in Ekiti, Fayose embarked on a tour of some South West states, but he did not visit Osun, even though Osun is the state more in need of much pulling of weight by PDP stakeholders. Several people have interpreted it to as a cold war between Fayose and the PDP caniddate, Omisore.

Iyabo Obasanjo Writes Open Letter to Boko Haram, Criticises Killing of Masses

Daughter of former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has written an open letter to the Boko Haram Sect, criticising the group for killing majorly masses and kidnapping Chibok girls for sexual pleasure. The letter reads: Dear Boko Haram “The fact that you have taken arms against the Nigerian state is no surprise. The question should be why haven’t more young people organised themselves against the state? “Even the fact that your motto, ‘Against Western Education’ is in a way reasonable given the fact that your leader, martyred by the Nigerian state had university education and found no reasonable employment but had to resort to thuggery for politicians to survive, as the story goes. “He, like millions of Nigerian young people and college graduates, seeing a blighted future are doing anything to survive. “They have become opportunistic desperados, almost sub-human as the stepping on and trampling on each other to death at the Immigration employment debacle indicates. ‘Where you’re wrong’ “Where I think you have gotten it wrong are in two areas, if you can pardon my giving you some unsolicited advice. “First, your victims are becoming more and more the people you should be attracting to your side. Take the Nyanya bus massacre. “The people that live in Nyanya are usually the clerks, messengers and other lowly office workers that live out in relative slums compared to the rest of Abuja and take public transportation to work to receive monthly salaries they barely get by on. “Consult any written work of successful revolutionariesbe it French, Russian, Cuban or even the more recent uprooting of communism in Eastern Europe, to succeed you need the people to be on your side. Right now you are not achieving this. “You are targeting the group you need most. This does not make for a successful revolution but you are making yourselves into nuisances to the people and in the end while the state, including its military machine may not be able to conquer you, your downfall will be alienating these potential allies, i.e. the oppressed and down-trodden. “Secondly, the abduction of girls. It must be hard to stay in the bush as all male revolutionariesfending for yourselves with no sexual gratification. Cuban example “But again, reading up on past bush revolutionarieslike the Cuban, for example, indicates that they were able to convince some women to go voluntarily with them into the bush. “Somehow, revolutionary zeal does not include sexual abstinence and cooking and cleaning by yourselves. “Reading must be hard for you since you hate education but the past is a good guide to the future and if you can’t read, you are done for in organizing or succeeding in most endeavours as most things have been done before and reading up on how it was done can only serve as good guidance. “The parents of the girls you abducted are just trying to give their daughters a chance at having successful lives. Without an education there is very little anyone can achieve in this early 21st century. “I know living in the bush; it must still seem like the dark ages but the truth is that even with the lack of jobs and opportunities for young people in Nigeria currently, it is still better to be educated. “An educated university graduate who was selling food from a food cart ignited the Arab Spring which was spread by use of the internet which is hard to use if you are not educated. “There are writings, videos and stuff you post on the internet which I haven’t seen. But think of it, you can only post and use the internet because some of you have some education. “But in the end you have no control over the distribution of your advertising and recruiting information because as you may know, the internet is really part of the western system you despise. Why you’re succeeding “The truth is that you have succeeded because the Nigerian state has failed to provide jobs and opportunity for its young people who you can now easily recruit. By disrupting education, you are adding to the burden of the people. “You may say, but how about our religious issue? Let the truth be told, just as there are indigenous southern Muslims, there are indigenous northern Christians even from your epicenter in Borno State and just as you are zealous for your religion, I don’t see them giving up their religion either. “The reasonable solution to this impasse would be for you to advocate for everyone to be able to practice their religion as they see fit with respect for each other’s beliefs. “Remember, a couple of centuries ago, all of our ancestors below the Sahara were all animists worshiping various ‘gods.’ “This ‘One God’ — us against them situation — is a relatively recent one in our human history and you will be advised to let the originators fight it out and let your people be.” Signed I.O.B

BREAKING: Ebola Virus Hits Lagos

The deadly Ebola Virus Disease which has killed over over 500 people in West Africa has hit Lagos, the Lagos state government says. Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, presently, has no cure and is ravaging neighbouring West African countries with many people killed and nations still at risk of the deadly disease. At a news conference in Alausa, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Thursday, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos, Dr. Yewande Adeshina, told newsmen that a 40-year old Liberian, working for a West African Organiation in Moronvia, Liberia, who arrived Lagos last Sunday is suspected to have the disease. She said details of the suspected case were obtained from a private health facility in the state, which she refused to mention, saying that history taken revealed that the 40-year old man had no contact with EVD, did not visit any person with EVD in the hospital and neither did he partake in the burial of any person who died of the disease. “However, on account of working and living in an endemic region for EVD, and the presentation of non-specific constitutional symptoms and signs (fever, malaise, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea etc) associated with EVD, a high index of suspicion was raised. “Based on this, blood samples were taken to Virology Reference Laboratory, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, on Tuesday. Preliminary results necessitated the confirmation of EVD at a World Health Organisation, WHO Reference Laboratory in Dakar, Senegal which is actively in process,” she said.

Oyo PDP lawmakers in moves to unseat gov

In Oyo State, the fear of the possible impeachment of Governor Abiola Ajimobi heightened last week with a series of secret political moves by members of the state House of Assembly. The development in Oyo is coming just as one of our correspondents gathered that there was apprehension in Borno State over the rumoured defection of the former Governor of the state, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff, to the Peoples Democratic Party. There are fears the defection might ignite a political crisis in the state. In Oyo, a source told one of our correspondents in confidence that, at least, 24 House members had been meeting secretly and that more members were being wooed to join the group. He said 10 legislators from the APC had joined the 14 other legislators from the PDP and AP and that they were holding secret meetings on the modalities to impeach either the governor or the speaker, Monsurat Sumonu. The House has 32 members with the All Progressives Congress having 18 members; Peoples Democratic Party nine; while the Accord Party, which had seven, now has five members. The source said, “The House has been calm because the speaker is dancing to the governor’s tune. Once she is removed, the new Speaker can go ahead to implement the impeachment plan. But the problem is that the group has yet to agree on who will be the next Speaker. For the PDP to have that power, it must improve on its present figure in the house. I am aware that it is being worked on with a move to woo AP legislators and possibly some APC legislators in the house,” he said.

Nasarawa House lists 16 offences against Al-Makura

NASARAWA State lawmakers on Thursday proceeded with their moves to remove the state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, by levelling against him 16 charges bordering on alleged official gross misconduct. The charges by the state House of Assembly include missing local government joint account funds between June 2011 and April 2012; and from January to July, 2013. The impeachment notice was signed by 20 out of the 24 members of the assembly. Pastor Kumuyi Denies Banning Ipads & Phones In His Church

The General Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, has denied media reports that he banned the use of Ipads and Iphones in his church. He released a statement to that effect on his Facebook page. Find it after the cut... THIS REPORT IS FALSE. There was never a time as referred to in the article, when Pastor W.F. Kumuyi made this statement or “BANNED” the use of mobile devices in the Church. As much as every Christ-loving believer is encouraged to give God his/her full attention when in Church or in any other place, where the Word of God is being taught, this story is HIGHLY MISCHIEVOUS and MISLEADING. There is no doubt that Technology has its place in the spread of the gospel message as well as believers’ development where such is put into proper use but its misuse or abuse is not encouraged. “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: FOR ALL MEN HAVE NOT FAITH. But the Lord is faithful, WHO SHALL STABLISH YOU, and KEEP YOU FROM EVIL” 2 Thessalonians 3:1-3. Remember, it is not everything from these sources that is true! May the Lord keep you in the Truth and not be tossed about by errors, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

World football governing body, FIFA, has extended the deadline date for Nigeria to respond to the ban imposed on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF. According to a statement on FIFA’s website, Nigeria now has up to 17 July, 2014 to make amends or risk an outright ban. It was gathered that the extension was granted due to the industrial action embarked on by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria. The statement stated that FIFA, in its magnanimity, has extended the window in order to give the NFF enough time to withdraw the court case that was instituted by Ruth Baribote, owner of Nembe FC, and also reinstate the Aminu Maigari-led Nigeria Football Federation board. The suspension, according to FIFA, will be lifted as soon as the court action is withdrawn and a properly elected NFF Executive Committee, the NFF General Assembly and the NFF administration are able to work without government’s interference.

6 Signs of Early Menopause in Women

Many women start to notice symptoms they suspect could be indicative of menopause well before actual menopause. Are you wondering whether you are entering menopause? Perimenopauseis the phase leading up to your final menstrual period. These signs are often the same symptoms that are associated with menopause. 1. Changes in Your Menstrual Cycle For many women the first, though often ignored sign is a change in the length of menstrual cycles. Your cycles could get longer, shorter, or you could notice some other change in the usual pattern. If you have been regular as clockwork since you were thirteen, you will probably be more likely to notice any change. 2. The Occasional Hot Flash In the very early stages of the menopause transition, many women notice a hot flash now and then. The first few times it happens you might mistake it for the room being hot or wearing too many layers. For women who are “flashers”, this symptom often gets worse before it gets better. 3. Changes in Your Mood This sign of menopause is disconcerting. Women describe being irritable, sad, anxious, discontented, and/or angry. Even when their lives seem to be going well with everything moving in a positive direction, women will be strangely unhappy or full of angst. 4. Changes in Your Sleep Pattern Losing sleep is frustrating. There are many reasons your sleep pattern might be changingat this time in your life. It could be due to nighttime hot flashes, stress, or unexplained wakefulness, for example. There are many possible remedies, including medicationsthat may help you get your sleep pattern back to normal. If this is an issue for you, speak to your doctor about it. 5. Heart Palpitations Heart palpitations can be a normal, though startling, sign of approaching menopause. But since heart diseaseis also a possibility, check with your medical provider if your heart beats irregularly or you feel fatigued, short of breath or faint. 6. Vaginal Symptoms For some women, vaginal dryness is their first inkling that menopause is on the way. This can come in the form of painful intercourse, or may be noticed along with urinary incontinence. Lower Sex Drive Even without vaginal dryness, women can notice a lower interest in sex. Changes in libido may go unnoticed in the chaos of a stressful life, but eventually you may realize that you don’t seem as interested in sex anymore, or that your orgasms are not as intense. Libido is an amalgam of physiological processes and psychological and emotional elements. Kindly leave your comments.

WOW! She Graduated With A CGPA Of 4.99 From Covenant University

I could not believe it when I saw this... Alma Jamachi Oputais Covenant University’s best graduating student for the 2013/2014 session. Alma who graduated with a CGPA of 4.99 from the department of Computer Science, tells Olafisoye Demilade, how she achieved the enviable feat and plans for future. Tell us about your background? I was born in Kaduna and grew up in Kaduna, Jos, Lagos and Owerri. I went to three primary schools, Command Day children school, Jos, Alama private School, Jos and Air force primary school, Victoria Island, Lagos. For my Secondary school, I attended Faith Academy, Ota, Ogun state. What informed your choice to study computer science? I studied computer science but it wasn’t my first choice initially. I have always wanted to study medicine since I was a little child. But things didn’t happen as planned and I couldn’t enter in for medicine at Unilag. Covenant University was my second choice and one of my secondary school teachers just picked computer science randomly for me. That was it. What motivated you throughout your University days? For starters, every semester was less stressful for me and that had to be God at work. Even when work got so cumbersome, I had wonderful friends and we would always tell each other we had to read, excel and do our best because we had goals. My friends were indeed the best! My lecturers were always there to answer any questions I had. I called my parents like everyday on campus and they never stopped encouraging me and telling me I was the best. I had every reason to do my best and come out the best. Who would you consider your mentors? My dad, Bishop David Oyedepo and Ben Carson. My dad has mentored my entire life. It was from my dad I got the mentality that no matter where I found myself, whether I wanted to be there or not, I had to be the best! He told me to prove to people that I was good enough for every aspect of life and I could only do that by being the best. Describe your typical day while in Covenant University? My typical day in CU varies based on the activities and plans I have lined up for that day. I wake up, pray, prepare for lectures and look at my to do list so I can plan how I would go about them and how I would use my free periods. After lectures, I go for any meetings and programs I have to attend and eat thereafter. I, then, study in the evenings and at night and I write my to do list for the next day. Afterwards I pray and go to bed.

Mobile phone banned on US flights from Africa and Asia

The US has declared that it will not allow mobile phones - especially iPhones and Samsung's Galaxy - onto US bound planes from some airports in Europe, the Middle East and Africa if the devices are not charged. The new measure, which is bound to cause chaotic scenes at airports around the globe, is part of the US Transportation Security Administration's effort to boost surveillance amid concerns that terrorists are plotting to blow up an airliner. As part of the increased scrutiny at certain airports, security agents may ask travelers to turn on their electronic devices at checkpoints and if they do not have power, the devices will not be allowed on planes, the TSA said. No doubt the new measures have the potential to create frantic searches for chargers at airports and one US source familiar with the matter said laptop computers are also among the devices security screeners may also require passengers to turn on. US officials are concerned that a cellphone, tablet, laptop or other electronic device could be used as a bomb by Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the Islamist Nusra Front, al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria.

A traditional ‘Ogboni’ cult ruler and powerful herbalist, 45, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Sunday Boboye has dumped his deities for Christ.
Speaking with Saturday Sun, the herbalist who has now renounced his 10 years of service to the Satan, disclosed how he used satanic powers to destroy so many lives.
According to him, he had committed terrible sins with the dark powers the ancestral gods he served gave him.
On why he joined the occultic group, Ogboni, he said, “I wanted powers to face the mighty and powerful people who have usurped my fathers’ land. To do this, I needed to accept one of the heist titles in the land and which was my family’s royal entitlement. It is the Ajagun (General at war) of Ode land”
After his initiation, he had access to dreaded powers that not only made him very popular in Ondo State but also made many to fear and tremble before him.
“If I decreed that somebody would die tomorrow, that is what will happen. The person will die. If I tell somebody that he would not eat the next day, the person must be prepared because that is what would happen. And if I decreed that someone would not sleep in his house the following night. It also would also happen. I was doing all these using the dark powers bestowed on me by serving the devil.

SATURDAY LAUNDRY: How to Keep White Clothes White

Follow a few simple rules to keep white clothes white. And, if they happen to get a bit dull or yellowed, learn how to restore the brightness.

Here's How:
1. Sort clothingcarefully. Wash white clothes separately to prevent color transfer.
2.Do not overload the washer. Detergents loosen soil but there must be enough space and water for the soil to wash away rather than redeposit on clothing.
3.Treat stains immediately. Follow stain removal guidelines for fabric types and type of stains. Do not automatically use chlorine bleacheven on cottonfibers because overuse can cause yellowing. An oxygen-based bleach( OxiClean, Clorox 2, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach) is usually safer.

4.Never dry a garment that still has a stain. It can become permanent.

5.Dry white clothing and fabrics outside. The ultraviolet rays will help to brighten and whiten the garment.

6.If clothing is dingy or gray, use a color remover to brighten the shirt.

UPDATE: Soldiers destroy BRT buses worth N100 million in violent rage

BRT buses valued at N100 million were burnt and damaged by soldiers in Lagos, an official of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority said.
The official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak, said two of the buses burnt by the rampaging soldier had only been in operation for less than two months.
On Friday morning, after a soldier riding a motor bike on the exclusive BRT lane was allegedly knocked over by a bus driver at the Palmgrove area of Lagos, soldiers went on a destructive rampage setting fire on at least five BRT buses and damaging three others.
The soldiers also beat up bus drivers.
Despite witnesses’ accounts, the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Olajide Olaleye, denied that the soldiers set the bus ablaze.
He told PREMIUM TIMES that “area boys” caused the mayhem.
“It’s not true that the soldiers destroyed buses or set any bus on fire. What happened was that a BRT bus knocked down a soldier and killed him. As usual in Lagos, area boys gathered and a few soldiers stopped at the scene as well. The GOC has dispatched military policemen to the scene to help restore law and order,” Mr. Olaleye said

Bola Tinubu’s Friends Created Boko Haram – Senator Musiliu Obanikoro

“The Boko Haram mess we are dealing with was created by Tinubu’s friends who promised to make Nigeria ungovernable for this Government” – Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Minister of State for Defence The minister of state for defence, Senator Musiliu Obaniko just minutes ago alerted Nigerians to the fact that APC chieftain and former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu is behind the Boko Haram menace in Nigeria. The minister made the comment via his Twitter page. Tweets by the minister himself are marked #MO, an indication that this is the position of the minister and pointedly could be assumed to be the position of the government he represents. Nigerians will now expect that the Federal Government will go ahead to arrest Senator Bola Tinubu and the friends mentioned by the minister. At this point, it appears minister of state Obanikoro will be very useful to investigations around finding those behind Boko Haram. One can expect the government to make arrests soon, a failure to do so would indicate a continued state of cluelessness on the part of the authorities.

Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB,Dibu Ojerinde in his presentation gave a statistical run down of candidates preference for tertiary education.
