Second Son Succeeds The Late Emir Of Gombe

The Gombe State Government on Friday approved the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar as the new Emir of Gombe. He succeeds his late father, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar, who died in a London hospital on May 27, 2014. Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Bage, presented the letter of appointment to the new emir at the Gombe Central Mosque on Friday. Shehu-Abubakar, who will be enthroned as the 11th Emir of Gombe, is the second son of the late emir. Until his appointment, he was the Santurakin Gombe. Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo reconstituted the council of kingmakers of the emirate after the death of his father; and out of 10 applicants for the throne; they submitted the names of three candidates to the government. After consultations with stakeholders, Dankwambo approved the appointment of Shehu-Abubakar.
