Why AAUA Guys Love Starched Shirts

Wearing of heavily-starched shirts, also known as ÈGÉ shirts is a peculiar fashion trend among guys in AAUA. You may call it’s in vogue. Anyone you call it. Some guys prefer applying locally-made or cold-water sachet starch. At times, when you meet a guy wearing an ÈGÉ shirt on campus, the shirt would be as hard as stone. Even if you place the shirt on the floor, I am so sure it will stand by itself.

But let’s ask ourselves, why do AAUA guys love starched shirts so much? This question is coming because I’ve noticed on campus that almost every day you meet lots of guys wearing this kind if shirt. Some guys say ÈGÉ shirts make them look ‘’cooperate’’ or ‘’fitted’’. Others say ÈGÉ shirts give them a kinda unnatural ego or pride as their hands and shoulders are always raised up whenever they are in such shirts. Funny enough, I discovered that loads of guys wear these ÈGÉ shirts in order to look seductive to the ladies on campus as even most ladies ‘’trip for’’ guys in such wears.

I can still remember that I once read a post on facebook some time ago that if you want to woo an AAUA girl, just ensure you putting on an ÈGÉ shirt because this really attracts them. This sounds funny though. But some guys say this is the truth. So to the girls now what do you think?

One thing that sincerely baffles me about these ÈGÉ guys is that despite the very poor state of power supply in Akungba and its environs, AAUA guys still ensure that their shirts are well-ironed, not minding the stress. Sometimes, if you notice very well, you would see some black patches or spots on these ÈGÉ shirts. This is so because the guy made use of stove iron or charcoal iron to iron the shirt. Some guys will go as much as bringing their clothes into the school to iron. “haaaaaa! AAUA ÈGÉ guys, una dey try oooooooo!” when you come on campus late in the evening, you meet mammoth crowd in some selected LTs and Student Union Building. What are they doing there? Sweating profusely and painstakingly ironing their ÈGÉ shirts.
